After losing his leg to cancer as a young adult, Jon Wilson struggled with the emotions of feeling broken. Challenging himself in the outdoors presented a possible remedy. Today, crutching up and skiing down mountains at night provides a distinct backdrop for Jon to explore, accept, and embrace the idea of “brokenness,” allowing him to find a more sincere, genuine and honest connection with life.

The Floating Mountain 18 minutes

For several years, BD Athlete Mary McIntyre has been researching a mythical mountain rising out of the Sea of Japan known as Rishiri. Rumored to have 5,000-foot runs from its alpine summit down to the ocean, yet revered for its fierce wind guarding its flanks, Rishiri had remained an elusive objective until just recently. Last winter, Mary teamed up with fellow BD Athlete Parkin Costain, filmmaker Eliel Hindert, and photographer Garrett Grove, and traveled to the floating mountain of Rishiri.

As Covid-19 clears the streets of San Francisco, we find solitude amongst the concrete jungle. This film documents the emptiness throughout San Francisco during Covid-19, using skateboarding as the catalyst.

Metanoia 22 minutes

„metanoia“ – by Mountain Tribe Before exit restrictions and bans on contacts should dominate the news in March 2020, the Mountain Tribe Crew embarks on a ski touring adventure in the Ötztal Alps. An old customs hut on the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road, which is closed in winter, serves as accommodation. The pandemic situation is worsening faster than expected. The initially euphoric mood fades and an inner tension spreads among freeriders. After extensive contact with the valley, relatives and the police, the decision is made to end the film project early. However, the quarantined Ötztal and the applicable restrictions make it difficult to travel home. After many years competing, Coline wanted to go back to what made her excited for freesking at the beginning : friendship, freedom and constant discovery. Through this movie, Coline wants to show that freeski is more than just a sport, it’s a lifestyle, an art. 10 women with a collective purpose to show that women can now performed in action sports. 10 of the best women skier and snowboarders on the planet meet during the 2020 winter over the world and perform in all type of environment. From the streets of Quebec to the big mountains of Chamonix through the backcountry in la Rosière, performance is a must.
