If You Give A Beach A Bottle 5 minutes

Five years ago I returned from an ocean plastics clean-up on the remote shores of Kayak Island in Alaska. I wanted to share about the amount of marine debris and the solutions to address this problem, but the more I looked into it the more overwhelming and complex the issue became for me. This slow-moving tsunami of plastic sat in the back of my head until I returned home and had time to look at this issue in a new light. I still find marine debris overwhelming and complex but sharing the big picture helps me see the ways amazing people from all over could come together to find solutions.

This has been a heartbreaking loss, however his community, friends, family and loved ones find solace in the knowledge that Dave lived his life to the fullest, placing his priority on the things that matter most in life. Zero° 4 minutes

In January 2021 28 Wild Swimmers pledged to swim everyday of the month for the Homeless Charity Crisis. To date, ‘The Daily Dippers’ have raised over £60,000 in what was the coldest January in over a decade. Sequence 13 wanted to make a short film to reflect on and pay tribute to all of the swimmers who took part in an amazing effort to raise money for an incredible cause. Our film features Gilly McArthur, one of ‘The Daily Dippers’. Gilly McArthur said: “Getting into cold water is a choice and a privilege for me but for many people getting cold is a not a choice. It’s wonderful to be supporting Crisis at this time, as they help people who are at the really sharp end of poverty. Homelessness right now is so bad, and the work Crisis does is absolutely crucial.”

The Mystery 10 minutes

There’s a subculture of kayaking known by few and understood by fewer. The paddlers don diving goggles and neoprene and slide into thin, uncomfortable boats not meant to float but designed to sink. Below the waterline, their goal is to stay underwater as long as they can. This is squirt boating. After squirt boating’s heyday in the early 1990s, the scene has all but disappeared. But when it comes to the history of squirt boating, the legend starts with Jim Synder. The Mystery offers a rare glimpse into this obscure sport and the dedicated few who continue to keep the tradition alive. Directors Statement: We were both admittedly a bit jaded with the outdoor scene when we started talking about the project--squirtboaters are essentially the antithesis of an influencer; they literally disappear underwater, and do a sport that only about a hundred people really care about. All of our sports and pursuits are like that, whether they seem vain or not--they're just a "perfect waste of time" like Jim Snyder says about squirtboating.
