About

Starts

17 Jan '22 | 8:00pm

Finlay Wild is a Scottish hill runner and mountaineer based in Fort William who is probably best known for his Cuillin Ridge Traverse record (2013) and ten-in-a-row Ben Nevis Race wins (2010-2019). Whilst he has long been interested in big hill days and challenges, the cancellation of races and the ‘stay local’ requirements of 2020 gave him the momentum to take things up a gear, improving his Tranter’s Round and Mamores records before breaking the overall record for the 93km Ramsay’s Round in a solo and unsupported style. In 2021, despite the delays caused by a wrist-breaking altercation with a skateboard, he went on to set a new Rigby Round record in the Cairngorms, as well as running the second fastest ever time on the iconic Bob Graham Round in the Lake District, finishing less than 7 minutes slower than international running star Kilian Jornet’s record time.

Jen & Sim Benson are runners, writers and photographers. Regular contributors to outdoor magazines and the national press, they are routes editors for Trail Running magazine, gear experts for Walk magazine and OS GetOutside Champions. Their books include 100 Great Walks with Kids, Short Runs in Beautiful Places, Wild Running and The Adventurer's Guide to Britain. Their forthcoming book, The Running Bible, is being published by Vertebrate in 2022.
