No cliff jumps, no rock music. Set within this vast arctic mass of steep magical mountains surrounded by icy arctic sea. This short doc is a cinematic portrait of not only the place but also the people on this back-country splitboarding expedition. The story reflects on the benefits of isolation, reducing surroundings to the barest simplicity of up vs down, of refuelling and sleeping. It also touches on themes of pain, fear, facing personal challenges on and off the mountain. It's a story about the importance of friendship and slowing things down in life before we all get where we're going too fast. Following the success of 'The First Day of Summer', this is the second splitboarding film from Zak Emerson and Pete Coombs. 'Lofoten - A Splitboarding Story' is a totally independent made film, with support of the Backdrop Journal team, Northern Alpine Guides, Lofoten Ski Lodge and Visit Norway.
