Our Judges say:

Not just a feminist revisiting of a 1950s expedition to the Himalayas, but a complex reassessment of the impact of adventure tourism by people in the business, and a sophisticated travelogue about the people in Nepal that most tourists fly over. Some dramatic and frightening footage in places. Good cinematography (albeit low tech) of some of the most amazing landscape on earth and a very nice sound track. Not flawless but still one of this year's best films.

Paul Hodgson Music Judge

In 1955, 3 friends from Scotland pioneered the first-ever all-female expedition to the Himalayas. Their adjective was a first ascent in the Jugal Mountains of Nepal. In the decades since their return, only five expeditions have explored this area. It remains remote, unknown and ready for discovery. Nearly 70 years later, four female Scottish mountaineers followed in their footsteps, looking for new skiing and climbing routes above the Jugal Glacier. Another pioneering expedition in its own right, its agenda is to explore what success in the mountains looks like, both environmentally, morally, culturally, and personally.
