A Look Back On 20 Years Of ShAFF - 2 Very Special Events

ShAFF first landed at the Showroom in March 2006. How you mark 20 years since that date, with Covid rearing its ugly head, is debatable, but either way, we are very happy indeed to be celebrating 20 years. To mark the occasion we have crafted two AMAZING playlists for ShAFF fans.

Founder of ShAFF Matt Heason has watched more than 5,000 adventure films over the 20 years so has a fair amount of experience. ShAFF also boats the best audience voting tool out there so has a wealth of data to back up Matt's choices. He has painstakingly pulled together two lists of 20 films, one from each year. The first is a programme of 20 feature films, every single one of them a corker. These will be screened over 8 bite sized blocks on Oct 10th and 11th at The Showroom Cinema. The second is a shorter affair - a single night at our Spirit Of Adventure event at Sheffield Cathedral on December 3rd featuring 2 x 90 minute programmes of short films representing a brief look at the best of every year of the festival. 

Matt will be at both events to share an insights and observations on how the adventure film landscape has changed over 20 years. We hope that you will be as excited as we are to re-visit some of our all time favourites and come watch  Hig eating butter straight from the packer in Journey To The Wild Coast, Inge building a cabin on the beach from driftwood in North Of The Sun and Hannah opening her heart in My Big White Thighs & Me.  Remember the crazy Ozzie walking across the Outback or adventure kyker Justine tackling The Aleutians? How about those guys who travelled to South America in a van powered by oil the scrounged from take aways along the way or Bruce Parry as he encountered cannibals in New Guinea?
