Double Screening: ShAFF People's Choice Winner The Oldest Munro Bagger
Every year at ShAFF we employ what we think is probably the most robust and reliable audience voting system at any film festival anywhere. Designed especially for ShAFF by Boom Beam it allows audience members to rate the films they have watched out of 10. This year the winner was the amazing The Oldest Munro Bagger. It received 100 votes with an average score of 9.7 out of 10!!
The Oldest Munro Bagger
Filmed over four years, The Oldest Munro Bagger follows 80-year-old Nick Gardner as he attempts to complete all 282 of Scotland's Munros in the wake of his beloved wife's dementia diagnosis. An uplifting story of resilience, hope and love for the mountains, it documents the emotional highs & lows, and the physical & psychological challenges he encounters along the way. A moving, authentic story of enduring love and growth, told against the breathtaking backdrop of the Scottish Highlands.
To The Sea
Alongside The Oldest Munro Bagger, you'll also be treated to another hugely popular film at the 2026 festival, To The Sea. In 2013, Ben and Hugo travelled to North Sweden to build a raft from salvaged materials in a small town near the source of the Vindel River. What began as fun 2-week holiday turned into an epic challenge - to travel 350km down the Vindelalven out to the Baltic Sea. With basic kit, limited experience, and almost no expectations, the two return to the river each year to continue the journey, hiding the raft (named Melissa) in the forest to await their return.
