Tommy Wilkinson is, in many ways, taking mountain biking to the next level. His dialogue with local landowners, persuading them that the sport can be a power for good on many levels, is a massive step forward. Economically, in conservation terms and encouraging engagement with the natural world is the message he’s determined to spread. John Horscroft will dig deep, examining what brought Tommy to mountain biking, how he has combined that with his love of our wild places and how he feels the sport has to evolve.

Tommy Wilkinson runs a cycling and outdoor creative studio from Rothbury, Northumberland. Alongside this Tommy was a well known face on the UK and European DH scene in the late 00's. He suffered a life changing injury in 2013, at which point he further developed his skills as a copywriter, photographer and filmmaker. He is the creative brains behind the Naughty Northumbrian which he runs with two partners, and his agency also works closely with a number of progressive estate owners on their land management strategies with social, environmental and economic implications in mind. In this role he is interacting with a wide range of ecologists, nature recovery experts, recreation managers and land owners on a day to day basis. He is studying Environmental Science at the OU part time, and a director of the not-for-profit Cheviot Valley Trail Stewardship group.
