Campfire Talk - Not All Ice Holes Are The Same
I set out to find my dream ice hole and instead discovered that it may be closer to home than I imagined.
It’s the ultimate prize for a cold water swimmer but here in UK we aren’t always lucky enough to find ice thick enough with easy access. In Scandinavia there are jetties out into lakes with ladders. Holes are cut in at the foot of the ladders so access is safe and easy. Here, it can be fraught with danger, disappointment and rotting vegetation.
I set out to find my dream ice hole and instead discovered that it may be closer to home than I imagined. A life lesson in chasing after something that is actually within you rather than external.
