A feel good, get out there and do it film.

Jimmy Hyland

Heart warming and joyous film which can't fail to make you smile. There's something so appealing about watching women comfortable in their skin and happy to tell it as it is.

Hannah Maia

A fun film. And, yes, the British double entendre is still alive and well.

Simon Taylor

You must surely have heard of this wonderful, heart warming film. Quite marvellous.

Everyone should watch this film!

A timely and poignant trail running film combining the phenomenal strength of a 6 day trail running race and the completely unchosen resilience of leaving your country, and family not knowing how or what you'll have to endure. A highlight of of the festival!

Hannah Maia

Beautifully made ultra running film with an utterly compelling and hugely articulate central character... and you will ever see Afghanistan the same way again.

Free To Run - a mission to tell the stories of women using sport to transform the world around them.

When the Taliban takes over Afghanistan threatening the basic human rights of women across the country, UN human rights attorney and mountain runner Stephanie Case must fight to find a way forward for the Afghan women of her NGO, Free to Run, in the midst of taking on the longest and hardest ultra trail race of her life.

After completing the TOR330 race four times, Stephanie Case’s next goal in sight was the TOR450, all while working behind the scenes to organize an all-women expedition in Afghanistan with Free to Run. These women include Zeinab and Zahra, who represent not only Free to Run’s ethos but the spirit of many other women in Afghanistan who believe in education and progress. Captured by the lenses of Dream Lens Media, this is a truly unique moment in history documenting Stephanie’s unshakeable strength and incredible belief in the power of the women around her.

Hielo Continental is one of the largest ice fields in the world and the heart of the Patagonian Andes with the 7 day hiking route, starting in El Chaltén, taking people deep into the mountains. 10 years ago, The North Face Ultrarunner Fernanda Maciel first conceived of her dream to run this epic route in a single push but the savage weather resisted her brave attempt. HIELO follows Fernanda as she returns with teammate Kaytlyn Gerbin to face this wild and remote glacier while running around the iconic mountains of the Torre and Fitzroy Massifs, putting their strength, endurance, and technical abilities to their ultimate test.

Beau sums it up himself perfectly when he says it's all about "a willingness to be busy and perhaps a little odd". An enjoyable film about his low key, back yard, do it yourself adventure.

I was asked to come in and talk on breaky TV about Backyard Adventuring. I said sure, but why don’t I have a Backyard Adventure instead? I’ll run around Sydney with my wheelbarrow and collect up junk wood, make stuff, and present it to the TV presenters on air the following morning, 24 hours later. So that’s what I did.

A proper adventure! A film about getting out into the wild under your own steam, ingenuity and creativity. Loved it.

The way Evan talks about getting things done is just so clear and simple. Oh, to be able to approach life this way. Inspiring.

Trains and bikes in one delightful geeky package.

What a family!? Love, humility and passion is brimming in this short film which had me teary and wondering if we could sell everything up and buy a van. Big thumbs up and a must watch.

Hannah Maia

The film tells the story of the Schneeberger family a.k.a The 9 Wheels. Mountain bike stars of the future, Emric (10) and Raoul (13) are home schooled by their parents Toni and Laetitia. They live in their motorhome going from bike park to bike park across Europe, a decision prompted by the discovery of a neurodegenerative disease in Laetitia. This film explores what it is like to live with a disability, brotherly love, the devotion of parents and ultimately, what it is like to live life one day at a time. A family living life to the fullest. This film is packed with emotion, soul, hope and high power riding scenes!

Sustainability Notes:

I think the film addresses sustainability in the sense it encourages the audience to re-think their life choices and value what is really important in life. It challenges the notions we're given by society of how to live our lives.

Yes, this has cute kids in it, who are lovely, and it's about a very cool dad who combines fatherhood and outdoor sport. But it's also a likeable fit which wears its message lightly. It looks absolutely stunning and it's a likeable film. Recommended.

Very appealing, engaging and candid window on preparation for an ultra run - in not exactly ideal family circumstances!

Vincent is an ultra-distance athlete, a mountain sports enthusiast, and above all a father with a busy life. By winning the ultratrail Les Templiers in 2021 Vincent was granted an entry for the legendary Western States Endurance Run, a 100-mile race taking place in June 2022 in California. Vincent lives in Annecy, a city providing the utmost in trail running and mountain sports. First and foremost he is a loving dad of a 2-year old boy and a soon-to-be baby. He also works as sport marketing manager. Balancing work, family and his passion for sports and outdoors Vincent spends most of his time in the mountains. A busy schedule and training exhaustion are the price to pay to see a dream to come true and participate to the Western States in 2022. Crossing the finish line is dream. But is the finish line the most important? Or is it the journey to get there?

Sustainability Notes:

This film is not really about the environment. All the actors and directors of the film are committed to this cause. But not for this project. Indeed we had to travel to the United States from France to attend the Western States race.

I think there are 2 things that we have limited. Vincent the runner knows that he will not go to this race every year because of the travel. And myself, the director, I was alone in the United States to film this movie. I decided to go alone so as not to complicate things and the environmental problems.
