Our Judges say:
skiing as a vehicle for youth climate change activism - an unusual but very well argued combination, in a nively balanced and resonant film. Really quite delightful.Paul Hodgson Music Judge
An interesting construct of Sam and the adult as a way of educating the audience about the real effects of climate change in British Columbia.Simon Taylor
Sam Tierney was in a dark place. At 13 years old, his climate anxiety was so bad he was having trouble sleeping at night. In an attempt to ease his stress, Sam writes pro skier and climate advocate, Mike Douglas, asking for advice. Seeing some of his own young self in Sam, Mike invites him on a weekly ski meet-up to talk about climate, skiing and life.
Sustainability Notes
Sam & Me is a film about Climate Change and climate anxiety. It was filmed entirely in the Whistler area and all the skiing was accessed by lifts or touring. The entire film is a call to action.
