Our Judges say:
Cycle to to Ski, and enjoy the adventure along the way!Jimmy Hyland
Cycling and skiing Europe's wildest mountains. The mountaineers Max Kroneck and Jochen Mesle book a one-way train ticket from Munich to Thessaloniki – and start their way back home by bike and ski. Along the route they explore the mountains of the Balkans, look for the most beautiful ski runs and get to know the local mountain communities. The documentary captures their personal experiences from over 2.500km on the road. A challenging adventure across ten degrees of latitude and a respectful approach to some of the wildest mountains in Europe.
Sustainability Notes:
The whole project has a sustainable approach. The cast is only using bikes and skis to travel through the Balkans. In addition they used trains to get to the start point of their journey. This means the whole tour that is documented in the film has a really low carbon footprint and adventuring by fair means is a key message of the story. The unavoidable CO2 emissions (on the film production side) have been compensated with the help of ClimatePartner
On the production side the carbon footprint is monitored and kept as low as possible (no flights, only one car used to move film equipment during some part of the journey). We are just working on the evaluation of the carbon footprint of the whole project and will do a compensation payment with the service "Climate Partner".
