Our Judges say:
Liked the characterisation particularly the reveal near the end about Connor's day job. The parkour itself seems ultra realistic compared with many parkour films I've seen before. I think this was because the shots are longer - typical films have one or two-second shots cut together. Loved the line, "when a wave of opportunity comes over you...you can commit to the jump'.Simon Taylor
Cracking parkour shortPaul Hodgson Music Judge
An exploration into the mind of freerunning athlete Connor Walker and what drives him to risk life and limb, in both his personal life and professional life as a fire fighter. In 2009, Connor had just begun his freerunning journey. Drawn to a discipline from an action scene he watched in James Bond Casino Royale, he began to copy these moves at a time when it wasn’t even recognised as a sport. He then filmed his first freerunning video with his cousin in 2010. 12 years on, his cousin and filmmaker Adam Walker documents his journey to the present day, using original archive footage that they shot together 12 years ago.
Sustainability Notes:
The film was shot in one day in my and Connor’s local city of Cambridge. We planned a route and walked between different freerunning spots that are dotted around the city. The film is a result of everything captured along the way, which was hopefully a low impact way of making it.
