Our Judges say:

Inspiring story of going from from homelessness to climbing

Paul Hodgson Music Judge

Lovely gentle fit with a main character at peace with himself. "If it hadn't been for free school meals, I'd never have gone to school". This film gives the best argument I've ever heard for how free school meals are the key to unlocking many young people's potential.

I originally met Ryan whilst filming for The Outdoor Partnership. They are a charity who support people to take up outdoor activities as a life long pursuit. Ryan was running a climbing session and told me his story. I knew it needed to be a film in its own right and was delighted when the team at the Outdoor Partnership agreed. This project is part of the Outdoor Partnership’s Health and Wellbeing programme sponsored by the Accelerate Programme at Cardiff University. It supports collaboration and research between Welsh enterprises, academics and health professionals to create innovative ways for improving health and wellbeing and economic development for Wales.

Sustainability Notes:

The film is locally filmed with a single person crew creating a minimal carbon footprint.
