Exploring Sheffield Walking Heritage

Join us for a celebratory historical walking tour of Sheffield

About

Starts

21 Mar '26 | 9:30am

Ends

22 Mar '26 | 6:30pm

Before the Walk films join South Yorkshire Ramblers and North East Derbyshire Ramblers on a circular walk to mark the beginnings of the Clarion Ramblers and celebrate Sheffield — the #OutdoorCity. We will visit the new plaque in the station commemorating the very first Clarion Ramblers meeting for a walk; in 1900 from Sheffield station, walkers travelled by train to Edale to climb Kinder Scout — the moment that began the journey of what is now @ramblersgb. During the walk we will take in key meeting places in campaigns for access to the peaks and plaques commemorating Access and Peak District National Park , 1932 Kinder Trespass and the Abbey Brook Trespass.

Expected terrain will be urban city centre, with some inclines with a leisurely pace. Bring clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather conditions.
