An unusual and thought provoking film about the worlds above and below the surface of a river.

Hannah Maia

Mesmerising, gorgeous film about rubbish in a river. Quite fantastic.

Paul Hodgson Music Judge

A collaboration with celebrated underwater photographer Zena Holloway and Director Amanda Bluglass, this short poetic film investigates the state of some of Britain's most precious chalk streams. The sad truth is that Britain's rivers are more polluted than ever. Not one single English waterway, including rivers, lakes, estuaries and coastal waters is in good ecological and chemical health (in 2022), with pollution from water treatment plants and agriculture the key sources of the damage. This film examines how our often romantic beliefs are at shocking odds with what truly lies beneath the surface.

Sustainability Notes:

This film is about river conservation and pollution, shining a light on the shocking state of English waterways.
