El Cap has been climbed many times many ways, but this is the first time it’s been free climbed solo in a day. Join Pete Whittaker en route.Anna Paxton
Rope Solo Free Climbing is a sport that few people know about and even less people do.
We join Pete Whittaker, his long time climbing partner Tom Randall and Big wall solo climbing expert Andy Kirkpatrick as they take us through the paces of what it really means to make a solo-free ascent of El Cap.
“The Problem is if Pete pulled it off, nobody would even get it, nobody would understand how hard it was”… and to do it in a day, is totally insane”. - Andy Kirkpatrick
“The ascent made by Pete on Freerider to me is hopefully the dawn of a new style of big wall solo climbing, big wall solo climbing on El Capitan for many years was just aid climbing. Now Pete has proven that it's possible to do that free climbing, but relatively fast” - Tom Randall A BMC TV film.

One of the stand out films of the festival. Hannah Maia shares her very personal story of learning to love her body again through cold water wild swimming. Uplifting, heartwarming, joyful!Anna Paxton
Fabulously well-made, witty, amusing, yet heart-rending tale of wild-swimming, personal growth, and recovery from loss in the context of pure adventure. So, so good. Surely the most lovable film in the whole festival.Paul Hodgson Music Judge
Over the course of a year, a commitment to wild swimming changes Hannah Maia’s perspective on loss and self-love. A must-see relatable film celebrating the female body.Ruth Farrar
"A young(ish) woman has fallen out of love with her own body. Frustrated, she wishes they didn’t have to hang out quite so much. Committed to making a change she sets herself the simple goal of swimming in open water at least once a month for a year. As she braves the elements throughout the seasons to swim in wild places she also begins to appreciate the quiet heroism of a female life and it’s body. A story about womanhood, miscarriage, healing, loving your own skin & freezing your bum off in cold water. Maybe life is indeed better when you wear a swimsuit."

The wonderfully warm Scottish voiceover of this film whisks you away on a winter climbing adventure to Scotland. A feel-good cinematic celebration of friendships formed on expeditions. While Rab's American athletes are awe-inspiring, the real star of the film is without a doubt mountaineering legend Myrtle Simpson.Ruth Farrar
After this winter I'm not sure you going to want to see more snowy shots but here they are from the winter before and Sheffields own houseEd Birch Director of Salt-Street productions
From the climbers and skiers who live for Scottish winter to the musicians and craftspeople who make their living in the highlands, so much of our inspiration still comes from the mountains of Scotland.
With the Rab family now extending far beyond these isles, in January 2017 we invited athletes and staff from our US Team to come and experience Scottish winter with us.
This film, produced by Coldhouse Collective, catalogues their journey through the country as they discover that the weather is just as fickle, the people just as welcoming and the climbing just as demanding as they'd always heard.

In high-end modern rock climbing, 5.15 is the top of the difficulty scale, a grade achieved by only a few men and never by a woman. Margo Hayes, a little known 19-year-old from Boulder, Colorado, is determined to change that. To be closer to the world’s hardest routes, she has moved to Europe, where she trains and climbs with the goal of succeeding on two of the most iconic 5.15s in France and Spain. But pushing her body and mind to the absolute limit, she risks injury and failure in her quest to be the first.
