WHAT'S ON FOR CLIMBERS AT SHAFF 2023
It's really been a bumper year for climbing films with five whole sessions dedicated to the best new films featuring trad, sport, bouldering, indoor, outdoor and even dry tooling in locations around the world.
Before the films, bring your unwanted outdoor gear along to the Alpkit Kit Swap. Grab some tokens and get swapping for something you might like to give a new home (no safety gear, ie climbing equipment and helmets). If you like your adventure at a higher altitude, ShAFF presents the feature film PASANG: IN THE SHADOW OF EVEREST The story of Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, Nepal's first women to summit Mt Everest (Sat 4 10:30), followed by a selection of the best new mountain films from around the world with Mountain Films 1 (Sat 4 12:30).
Then, Scottish climber Robbie Philips will be here as we screen his brand new film STACKED, a film about climbing the three famous sea stacks of Scotland in one twenty-four hour push. Before that, Robbie will be at The Outpost (Sat 4 14:00) with his Edge of the World Tour, funny, exciting and unashamedly attempting to showcase UK adventure climbing at its finest! From climbing the most remote hard rock climbs of the British isles to climbing the hardest sea cliff in the world on Orkney, Robbie's is an example of how world class adventures can be found without ever having to leave the UK.
If you really would like a little bit of everything, Climb Films 1 (Sat 4 12:15) and Climb Films 2 (Sat 4 16:15) are collections of short films, and for the first time ever, we have a dedicated Made In Sheffield - Climb Films session of the best new films made by local production companies, starring local athletes, and/or shot in Sheffield and the Peak District (Sat 4 18:30). Then head over to the Showroom bar for The ShAFFter Party (20:00-late!).
If you're ready to relax on Sunday morning, catch Adam Ondra: Pushing The Limits (Sun 5 10:45), followed by the award-winning An Accidental Life (Sun 5 12:15).
In between the films, don't forget to visit The Outpost (next door to the Showroom), where our exhibitors and sponsors are hosting a series of free talks around the campfire, activities and events including panels on inclusivity in the outdoors, and the positive impact of local activism.
