Alpkit's Big Living Room Campout

We haven’t all got the luxury of a back garden or local trails to explore on our doorstep. Some of us live in flats, and most of us reside in cities where green space is at a premium. So, we’ve decided to team up with Alpkit to bring the outside in!

The concept is simple: set up a tent in your living room (or a tarp and bivvy bag if you’re short on space); get a brew on the go (camping mugs optional but strongly encouraged); and fire up the screen device of your choosing to watch some awe-inspiring adventure films.

We have put together a free selection of films for the occasion - family friendly so the kids can join in too! We’d love to see your best Living Room Campout setups, so don’t forget to share your pictures with us via social media using the #BigLivingRoomCampout tag.

In 2014, Kilian Jornet won the Hard Rock 100 mile run through the San Juan’s of Colorado. Along the way he stopped at Kroger’s Canteen – an aid station perched on a tiny ledge, 13,100ft above sea level. This is a story about that aid station, about the people that make it happen, and about the spirit one can only find at the Hard Rock 100.

The first time Frank Sanders saw Devil’s Tower was in the sudden brilliance of a lightning strike. It sent a wave of anxiety through him, but the next day he climbed The Tower. 43 years later, he’s repeated that act more than 2,000 times and learned a thing or two about about going up and not growing old.

Father and Son trip down the Grand Canyon beautifully shot beautiful documented.

Ed Birch Director of Salt-Street productions

The important places, we all have them. They’re the places that awed us, that inspired us, that fed our souls. Sometimes we wander far from them, but the memories remain. Sometimes we have to return there to feel whole again. In this film, a father and son return to one of the father’s important places, the Grand Canyon. There they discover more about each other—and the bond they share. This is an important film, about the important places.

This is one of my top film, a must watch. Meyer on the big screen.

Ed Birch Director of Salt-Street productions

Ocean Gravity is a short film that rewrites the rules of the underwater world. Quadruple world record breaking freediver Guillaume Nery takes us into the world of weightlessness. Like in space, there’s no up or down or right way round. The ocean becomes the cosmos, man a satellite and the sea floor an unknown planet. Filmed without using special effects.

Some records are just meant to be broken. Mayan Smith-Gobat and Libby Sauter just knew that the women`s speed record for the ascent of The Nose on El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, California was their`s for the taking. Crushing the old record and standing atop El Capitan at 5 hours 02 minutes after their first test run and 4 hours 43 minutes after the final attempt just a few days later, Mayan and Libby put their names in the books of the infamous route in the Yosemite National Park, California

Ed Birch Director of Salt-Street productions

An imaginary journey round Scotland, linking together wild bothies and landscapes. Apart from one day, when he was joined by a friend, microadventurer Alastair Humphreys made this trip by himself, filming it all himself. (He used a car to do some of the grunt work between some of the locations as they are spread all over Scotland).
